Why it matters
Laptops hold data your servers never see
Proposals, spreadsheets and email archives often live only on a laptop. When that laptop is lost, stolen, damaged or encrypted by ransomware, the data goes with it unless it was backed up.

In January 2026 Arctera announced an end of sale for Backup Exec, DLO and System Recovery, and an end-of-support date in April 2029 was widely reported.
In June 2026 partners were told that the products are available to purchase again and that the life of the product is extended. Virtech quotes DLO renewals and new subscriptions for customers in the UAE and GCC, and confirms the current lifecycle dates for your version in writing before you renew.

Does DLO back up Mac laptops?
Yes. DLO has agents for both Windows and Mac. We check the supported macOS and Windows versions for your DLO release before deployment or upgrade.
Is DLO part of Backup Exec?
DLO is a separate product, often bought alongside Backup Exec. Backup Exec protects servers and virtual machines; DLO protects the files on desktops and laptops.
Can users restore their own files?
Yes. Users can restore files through the DLO agent or a web browser, which removes most restore requests from the helpdesk.
Does DLO help against ransomware?
DLO can roll a user's files back to a point before an infection. It works best as one part of a wider plan with protected server backups; see data backup services.
Where can the DLO server run?
