The challenge
The bank archived email for around 5,000 mailboxes on SourceOne, a platform that was no longer supported. Every incident was a risk with no vendor to call, and compliance problems were starting to appear.
For a bank, that's a serious exposure. Regulators expect email to be retained, journaled and searchable, and legal teams need to find it quickly. The bank needed a modern, supported archive, and it needed to bring 80 TB of historical data across without losing a single item or breaking the chain of custody.

What we did
Virtech designed the new platform and led delivery together with the bank's IT team and the local partner.
- Built to stay up. Enterprise Vault for mailbox and journal archiving, with high availability and disaster recovery from day one.
- Protected first, migrated second. We had Enterprise Vault live and archiving new email within 2 weeks, so the compliance gap closed straight away. Only then did we retire SourceOne and start moving the history.
- A migration that stands up to scrutiny. All 80 TB moved with full chain of custody, so every item can be traced from source to target.
- eDiscovery from the start. Discovery Accelerator lets legal and compliance teams search and review cases directly in the new archive.
