Arctera Joins Cloud Software Group: Your 2026 Planning Checklist

Updated: 13 hours ago
Cloud Software Group completed its acquisition of Arctera on 1 December 2025. The completion announcement says Arctera will operate as a standalone business within the group.
For existing customers, the next useful step is to connect this vendor milestone with a practical plan for 2026.
That plan should cover the estate as it stands: its support arrangements, technical dependencies and the work the business expects next year.
Put renewals and changes on one calendar
List maintenance dates, infrastructure refreshes and planned changes to Exchange, Windows, SQL or storage. Identify where one project affects another.
For an Enterprise Vault estate, a messaging upgrade may require archive work first. For Backup Exec or InfoScale, application and infrastructure changes may introduce their own prerequisites.
Give the team enough time to assess compatibility and obtain the necessary resources. Procurement dates and technical change dates should support the same plan.
Establish the operational baseline
Review current ingestion, retrieval, backup and recovery evidence for the products in use. Record capacity and growth, recurring incidents and unresolved findings.
Separate vendor ownership questions from known technical issues. A backlog, a capacity constraint or a missing recovery procedure still requires an owner and an action, regardless of the corporate structure.
Use the baseline to decide which projects are necessary, which are beneficial and which can wait.
Confirm the people and access
Check support contacts, entitlement records and escalation responsibilities. Make sure more than one authorised person understands the critical procedures.
Include training in the budget where the team needs to operate an upgraded platform or cover a wider estate. Administrator capability is part of the operating plan.
For organisations supported across several GCC countries, define the balance of remote services and onsite work. An agreed delivery model helps the customer plan resources and maintenance windows.
A useful annual plan is short enough to maintain. It names priorities, expected outcomes, dependencies and owners, rather than listing every possible improvement.
